My Rates

When estimating a project, it's important to approach it from a variety of angles. Below are what I've found to be the most useful and informative

- Script length:

Which can be a few things...total word count, minutes or hours

- Difficulty of copy:

Technical or medical jargon etc.

- Size of overall project:

If the project will have multiple facets or modules

- Complexity of final file delivery:

Separate-individually named files or one continuous file. Recording, editing and any mastering are included in the rate quoted in my estimate

- Usage:

On what medium and the duration the content will run; Broadcast TV or radio, Website, Social media posts, Internet and or web advertisement (pre-roll or web ads), Paid placement social media campaign (boosted posts)

- Market:

Where the content will be viewed; Local, Regional, National and International

- Timing for delivery of files:

Express - 24 hours

Standard - 72 hours +

Typically I use the following equation when establishing timing/turnaround:

1500 words or >10 minutes = 48-72 hours

3,000 words or >20 minutes = 72-120 hours

Anything <3,000 would need to be discussed and agreed upon

- Timing for client review:

2 weeks from delivery of file

Rates are based on industry standards as per the GVAA rate guideline and are quoted in US dollars (USD)

My Process

STEP: 1

"GETTING TO KNOW YOU"

Apologies for the ear worm. Let's get to know one another and the scope of the project.  As well as any particulars the client desires me to achieve with my voice; to whom am I speaking, what is the point of view from which I am coming, is this an informative and serious read or lighthearted and fun etc., does the client have a tone or pace in mind?

What is the desired; turnaround for first review, file format, editing/splitting/labelling and degree of clean up and processing?

What is the budget for the project and does it align with my estimate?

We can establish all of this either via a phone call or emails.  I find calls are a great way to really get an understanding of one another and is a much more personal approach.

STEP: 2

LET THE RECORDING BEGIN

Once I receive the final script, I like to supply a sample read for client review/approval/direction. I find this is crucial in setting expectations to achieve the best, most efficient and cost effective final product.  If desired, I welcome and enjoy directed sessions. Directed sessions can be anything from a few minutes getting everyone on the same page, to the duration of the project, whatever works best for you and your client.

My goal is to make sure you and your client are very happy with how it sounds and the process it takes to get there!

My home studio is equipped to deliver high quality, broadcast ready files, but if you have a local studio you prefer to record with I am happy to record from there.

STEP: 3

SOUNDING GREAT, CAN WE ALSO TRY...

Being that this is a collaborative process, there are likely to be adjustments needed. The way I structure this is as follows:

REVISIONS

CHANGES TO THE APPROVED/SUPPLIED SCRIPT

- 2 rounds of revisions of less than 10% of the approved script are included in the estimate and have a 1-2 day turnaround

- Revisions greater than 10% of the approved script incur a session fee calculated at $100 per hour with a 1/2 hour minimum and have a 1-2 day turnaround

- Once revisions are delivered, a 2 week client approval/comment period begins. After 2 weeks if there are no comments, I will close the project.  Revisions after that 2 week period may be considered a new project and will need to be negotiated and will at the minimum incur a session fee at the above rate

RETAKES

WHOOPS! I SAID THAT WRONG. AH, I SEE I LEFT OUT A WORD

All retakes are my fault and are therefore free of charge
